If you don't already have a Bible, you can get one at just about any bookstore in America. I recommend getting one that is in a clear language that you can understand. My mother gave me a "Good News Bible" when I was a kid. It's in modern English and is easy to understand. It's the same one that I use to this day. All of the quotes, that have been given, were taken from it. If you want a copy just like it, you can get one directly from the American Bible Society. They're the ones who print it. The following is a link to their site that shows where you can get one just like it:

This isn't any sort of referral link, and I don't get a dime or any kind of commision or kick-back. I provide the link only for your convenience; just in case you like the version and find it easy to follow.

If your native language isn't English, the American Bible Society offers copies of the Bible in many languages. Translations in different languages can be found at bibles.com.

If you have a Bible and don't know where to start. Just do what you'd do with any other book. Start at the beginning and read it to the end.

No one gets to Heaven by merely reading a Bible. It's a critical step to learning the truth about God, but it's only a step in terms of being friends with God. Becoming a citizen of Heaven is simply a choice. It's a choice to follow Jesus by trusting him to make you God's friend.

Here's what the Bible says:

"I have complete confidence in the gospel; it is God's power to save all who believe, first the Jews and also the Gentiles. For the gospel reveals how God puts people right with himself: it is through faith from beginning to end. As the scripture says, 'The person who is put right with God through faith shall live.'"

-Romans 1:16-17

"For it is by faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved. The scripture says, 'Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.' This includes everyone, becuse there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles; God is the same Lord of all and richly blesses all who call to him. As the scripture says, 'Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved.'"

-Romans 10:9-13

What it takes to follow Jesus, and to become God's child, has already been described elsewhere on this website. In order to avoid being too redundant, click here to read more about it.
